The moment you walk into Mad Hatters, you’re greeted by rows of colourful pottery, shelves stocked with creative tools, and an atmosphere buzzing with creative energy. It’s a place that seems to whisper, “Let’s make something amazing!”

For our Craft Nation sessions, this space was the perfect canvas (quite literally) for children to experiment with new ideas and techniques. The cheerful décor and relaxed vibe encouraged kids to dive in fearlessly, and the range of materials available meant there was always something new to try.

From painting pottery to exploring mixed media, the possibilities were endless. The children’s excitement was contagious, and it didn’t take long for their creativity to fill the room with vibrant colours and imaginative designs!

It was such a joy to watch the children during our time at Mad Hatters. Their eyes would light up as one of the highlights was seeing how the found their own rhythm and style. Some loved the careful precision of painting tiny details, while others embraced bold, sweeping designs. Whatever their approach, they were always met with encouragement and enthusiasm, which made every session a celebration of individuality and creativity.

Parents were very impressed that the Craft Nation programme included a piece of Mad Hatters Pottery and many shared how the experience not only sparked their kids’ imaginations but also gave them a sense of accomplishment and pride that carried over into other parts of their lives. They picked out a piece of pottery or chose their favourite colours of paint. Each session was filled with laughter, curiosity, and moments of pure pride when they held up their finished creations.

Mad Hatters is so much more than a pottery painting café—it’s a creative hub for the Berkshire community. Its welcoming atmosphere make it a haven for both budding artists and seasoned creators. For us at Craft Nation, it was an absolute privilege to collaborate with such an incredible venue. Mad Hatters embodied everything we strive for: a place where creativity flourishes, laughter fills the air, and everyone leaves with a little more colour in their lives.
