The Joy of Teaching Arts and Crafts: A New Chapter at Churchend Primary Academy

There is something truly magical about watching children immerse themselves in creativity. I am thrilled to announce that I will begin teaching at the amazing Churchend Primary Academy in Tilehurst, Reading on 29th April 2025! This new chapter is filled with excitement, and I cannot wait to share the joy of arts and crafts with even more wonderful students. Collaborating with such a splendid school is an incredible opportunity, and I am eager to get started.

As I prepare for this new journey, I’ve been reflecting on how essential arts and crafts are for our young learners. Creativity is not just about making something beautiful—it is a vital tool for self-expression, confidence-building, and problem-solving. I’ve noticed how much these activities are needed to help children explore their imagination, develop patience, and gain a sense of achievement. More than ever, providing a space for them to engage in hands-on creative projects is invaluable.
From the moment we begin a workshop, the room is alive with energy. The children’s eyes light up as they see the materials laid out before them—paints, fabrics, beads, paper, and all kinds of crafting wonders. They don’t hesitate to dive in, eager to learn, experiment, and create something uniquely their own. It’s this fearless creativity that makes every class so special.

One of the things that I admire most about my students is their ability to take on challenges. Whether it’s learning a new technique, working on a detailed project, or collaborating with their peers, they rise to the occasion with enthusiasm. It’s incredible to see their confidence grow as they discover new skills and push the boundaries of their creativity. The sense of pride they feel when they complete a project is truly heart-warming.
Beyond the artistic techniques, these workshops are a place for children to express themselves freely. Art and craft activities help them develop problem-solving skills, patience, and the ability to think outside the box. More importantly, they build friendships, share ideas, and support each other in ways that are wonderful to witness.
"When children are given the freedom to create, they unlock endless possibilities and build the confidence to express themselves in ways words sometimes cannot."
